Easter was a game changer! Because of Easter, God has given us His Presence to succeed in life. A second “P” that He has given us is
POWER.
Jesus not only promises his presence (to stay with us forever), but He gives us a Helper-the Holy Spirit. Listen to what He says in the book of John:
“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever.”
Jesus last words before He blasts off in Acts 1:8 are:
“But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power…”
The word POWER here comes from the Greek word “dunamis”. This is where we get our English word, DYNAMITE. It literally means force; specifically miraculous power; ability, abundance, might, power, strength, violence, mighty work.
If you have any doubts about this, just look at the life of Peter. Before Acts 1:8 of being filled with the Spirit’s power, he was a coward. Remember he was so afraid that he denied knowing Jesus three times? One of those times was to a little girl! What a wus!
But, after he was filled with the Spirit, Peter courageously confronted a rioting crowd in Acts 2 and told them they were the one responsible to killing Jesus!
I pray what Paul prayed almost 2000 years ago for a group of Christians in modern day Turkey: “I ask God from the wealth of his glory to give you power through his Spirit to be strong in your inner selves, and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith.” (Ephesians 3:16)
Why not take some time today to read how you can experience the same POWER as Peter did by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Click on the link below to read; you can also click for the audible version.
