Parenting is hard work. We get no training to be a mom or a dad. As young parents, my wife and I devoured everything we could on how to be good parents: we read books, listened to cassette tapes (Yes, it was over 20 years ago!); we observed older families; we asked questions. We followed the advice of a parenting guru for a while until we realized they did not know everything about parenting: They only raised two girls! Boys are another story! Early on, I thought I had it figured out and would write a book. Not a chance! After raising our four kids and observing many other families, I have reached the conclusion that there are many wise principles to apply, but there are no magic formulas to follow. In other words,
A + B + C + D does not equal E
Humor is often needed however! You will enjoy meeting BuzzFeed’s 24 people who are really nailing this parenting thing…

You nailed it, Steve! Formulas NEVER work where people are concerned–especially kids. And humor is the only way to parent. Thanks for the grins!
Thanks for visiting the blog, Dayle. You are a great encouragement. We have to laugh or we take ourselves too seriously.
